About Your Leader

Sahara George

Yoga Instructor

During my time as an undergrad at UC Irvine, I did all of my studying from my yoga mat. As a burned-out Summa Cum Laude grad, I took a break from researching the brain and completed my yoga teacher training under yogi and post-doctoral scholar Dr. Mitra Hooshmand. Mitra, being a researcher of spinal cord injuries, taught me to be respectful of Yoga’s aphorisms while building a strong understanding and love of anatomy, physiology and safety within the practice.

I’ve been teaching yoga since 2014 and have since become even more enamored with the mechanics of the human body. After working in a variety of Physical Therapy settings since 2019, my teaching style has become more focused on mobility and functional movement. You can certainly expect to encounter traditional yoga postures and attention to breath, but I’ll offer creative and intelligently sequenced transitions to arrive there.

I  strive to constantly educate myself and make space for humans of all kinds on the mat. I may offer a challenge in your practice, but know that I’ll always offer gentle, safe options for all levels in class.
